Lets Get Movin'

In my hometown we are have a racing series going on.  The School Board of Education and Jessica's Dance Center is responsible for putting it all together and then there is a business that sponsors each month.  Each month there is a themed 5K for only the residents of this county and for those who may live out of county that work in this county.  In March the race was called the Leaping Leprechaun.  Each race is timed and awards are given to each age group.  There is a triple crown, for the months of April, August and December and if you win your age group those three months then you are entered for a Hibbetts gift card!  The race fee is only $5 and $2 for students and you get a dri-fit tech shirt!!! Plus it is 5 minutes from my house so you don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to get there!! So it is a win win!!!

This past weekend was the second race, it was held at 4:00 in the afternoon which turned out to be great because the weather was so nice!!!  And the turnout was great!!! There was around 80 people that showed up to participate!!! I think that is great for residents and workers only!!!

Maddie had talked about the Kid's Fun Run all week.  It was 2 laps around the football field....she didn't make it one!!! Bless it's bones!!!! I walked the rest of the lap with her!!

After I finished.  I had a very heated finish with a guy and we were in a dead sprint for the last tenth of a mile and I was done!!!  BTW he got me by 2 seconds!!!!
Jessica and I with our boys!
Jessica, Kandis and I.....we all took home 1st in our age groups!!!!!
Carter likes being with the older girls!!! LOL And must I say he smoked our tails today!!! Kid hasn't ran since October and he ran a 23:49!!! He got 5th overall and 2nd in his age group!!! Can you say one proud Momma!!!!!!
My age group winners.  My time was a 28:21, not the best but okay for my first 5k of the year and certainly okay for having run 16 miles the day before!!! I will also add I was 14th overall..... I will take it!!!
My Momma, me and Carter.  My Momma is one amazing woman. She is 61 years old,(please don't kill me Momma for putting that out in blog land)  has lost over 70lbs and is now running a 5k!!!! Her fastest time has been in the 37 minute range.  At this race she ran a 39:29!!!! She won first in her age group as well!!!! I am very proud of her and ALL her accomplishments!!!!

More to come on the Let's Get Movin Race Series!!!!!!! Hoping to win that Triple Crown!!!!

Glow Run for a Cure 5K

Our Relay for Life was this past weekend and on the Thursday before they had a 5K to kick start the event.  It was called Glowing for a Cure.  To be honest I wasn't expecting that big of a crowd, due to it being on a Thursday night and it really wasn't advertised that much. But there was a wonderful turnout!!!!! There was about 80+ runner/walkers, which is really good for our town.

I wasn't expecting any PRs, but I did better than I expected!! My official time was 27:44, so I was very pleased! And I was 13th overall!!!! With about a half mile to go, I looked over my shoulder to see if anyone was back there and about 30 feet back there one girl.  Coming around the townsquare with about 3/10s to go I could feel her gaining on me, I didn't want to go full power yet, as I rounded the last curve, I dropped the hammer (Chris's favorite saying) and went full Beast and I be darn if she didn't too.  We were hashing it out to the finish line. I am talking palms open, full stride, RUN!! She beat me by 1/2 second!!! After I caught my breath and saw that I wasn't dying, I went over and asked her if she was the one that just gave me a run for my money and she said yes, I said good race. I then asked how old are you, she replied 33, I just turned and walked off!! There went my 3rd place in my age group!!!! I knew that 1st and 2nd was tied up.  But I can't hang my head, I gave it my all, I had ran one time last week and gave it a 110%!!! This is one time I am looking forward to my birthday and turning 35 I will leave this very competitive age division!!! Especially since Jessica is now in my age group!! :)

Carter was the real winner, he placed 5th overall and PR'ed big time with a 24:51!!! He ran with one of our running buddies and paced the entire race with him!!!

Maddie ran the little Kid's 1/2 Mile Race!! She was super excited, but when I met her coming down the townsquare she was crying, her legs hurt, her hips hurt, etc!!! Oh the Drama!!!! She got a medal and all was good!!! My niece also ran the Kid's Race

My Momma and Sister also ran the race and my Momma won her age division!!!  Jessica was Beast that night!! She won first in our age group.

Maybe he will run with me someday, until then I will take him being a spectator and cheering us on!!!

My Partner in Crime!!!!!

I love this our girls!!!! Poor Maddie was crying, she said her hips and legs wasn't made for running!!!! LOL

A Season of Dance!

First I would like to say our official times for the "I'm a Dam Runner" 5k has been posted and mine was a 26:50 and Carter are you ready.......ran a 24:57!!!! I am so super proud of him, he is only 8 years old people!! He is one determined little dude!!!

Maddie had her end of the year dance recital on Monday and Tuesday nights.  This year's theme was A Season of Dance.  Each group danced, cheered or tumbled to a season specific song.  Maddie danced to Yellow Polka Dot Bikini for the month of June, tumbled to Olay, Olay It's Hot for July and Frosty the Snowman for December!! All the little dancers did so well and it was so cute!! Jessica puts so much time and dedication in with the little ones and is oh so patient.  I would be ready to pinch a head off!!! LOL

Olay, Olay, It's HOTT!
All of my pictures of her tumbling was too dark and I wasn't able to get one of her in this outfit. This one was a group picture and I cropped her out, so blurry! I loved these outfits!!!

Long Time, No Write

Well Hello there!
I have been MIA, for very good reasons! Kiddos!!!! If you have kids you know exactly what I mean, especially if they are active in various activities.  Maddie has had her dance recital the last 2 nights and Carter had a ball game last night.  Thank goodness for grandparents, because they took Carter to his game while I was at the recital with Maddie.  Update on that later!!

Saturday we ran a 5K in Campbellsville at the Green River State Resort Park.  The race was called "I'm a Dam Runner" due to crossing the dam! This has probably one of my favorite races ever.  The course was super flat with just a small incline of a hill and the scenery was beautiful. Weather was perfect it was about 65 degrees and about half way through it began to mist rain, and it felt really nice! However hard on the hair!!! There was several people from our community that went and for some it was their first race ever! So proud of them for getting the courage to even sign up and participate.

My garmin said my time was 27:15, however the official times has not been posted yet.  I would have gotten 3rd place in my age group had they been rewarding 3 places, they only had 1st and 2nd, I am still raw over that one.  How I know you wonder, because I was about 5 steps behind the chick that got 2nd and had their been two more tenths of a mile I would have caught her!!! URGH!!!! This wasn't my fastest time, but I was still pleased, since it is only my second 5K of the year.  My Mom did get 2nd in her age group!! Woo Hoo GO Nana!!!  Carter placed at least 3 minutes ahead of me, I asked what the clock said as he crossed, his response "dunno", what was the placement on your card as you crossed the finish line "dunno" so who knows!! All I know is he beat me!!! I failed to look at the clock as I crossed because I was looking at my Garmin.
after the race with Carter and my Mom

My Road Dog!!! She was beast and pushed a stroller!!

With our wild and crazy crew!! Her son, ran his first 5K, huge accomplishment
for him, ran in 40 minutes!!! And little Priss rode in the stroller.

Some of the participants from our town.

Carter and his buddy!!!!
 ****official time 26:50*****

Butterflies for Maddie 5K Recap

Saturday was my first 5K of the year.  I knew I would be slower than I was last year when the racing season ended.  However I was quite pleased with my time and placement.  Carter decided he was going to go with Jessica and I to the race.  So we went to McD's real quick for breakfast, I had a bacon and biscuit and he had an Egg McMuffin with no egg!!! Weird Kid!! LOL  It was a chilly morning.  I was really wanting to run in shorts and short sleeved, but it was too cool for me.  So I wore capris with shorts over them and my half marathon long sleeve tech shirt. My capris are black UA's and my shirt is navy, so I put on some shorts to break up the color scheme!! You know you got to look good!! ha

Butterflies for Maddie is a very special race.  It is in honor/memory of a precious little girl who lost her life at a very young age.  You can read her story here.  The race has grown tremendously over the years.  There was 450-500 pre-registered according to the race director.
My Sister and I before the race...so proud of her, she has the 5K bug!!!
Jessica, me and Carter before the race.....No we did not plan our outfits....but we are not
above it!!!

Family Affair...Susan, my Mom, Me and Carter

Carter and I after the race...he beat me again!!! His time was 25:51, I was 27:49
Carter placed 2nd in his age group!!!!! SOOOOOO Proud of him!!!! He hasn't ran since OCTOBER!! Imagine if he actually trained!!!
I placed 6th in my age group, there was 34 in my age group, so I am pretty proud of that placement and that time.  However what I am most proud of is this was my first race that I ever did and I beat my time by almost 5 minutes from last year!!!! I had a time of 32:+/-, very proud of that!!!!

So in order to celebrate we went to the Donut Shop...The name of it is the Best Donuts...and they are believe me!!

One of the dozen donut holes I had!!!!! They were sooooooooooooo good!!!!!!

A Quickie!

I didn't really have anything to write about today until I checked the website for the 5k that I ran on Saturday......... If you remember I said that there was a glitch in the timing and finishing for my age group and the age group below me, not sure how that can be if it is chip timed, but anyway.....I got 3rd in my age group and my time was 26:45!!!! To say I am happy is an understatement!!! I placed 52 overall with 198 total runners!

Pumpkin Festival March of Dimes 5K

Our Race was a HUGE success!!!!!!!! I am so very happy with the outcome and the number of people that came out for it!!!! We don't have an official count yet, but I think it is safe to say that we had 125ish runners/walkers!!!!!
I think the easiest way to recap it is with pictures!!!! So beware, picture overload!!! After we get the final tally of how much we will be able to donate to the March of Dimes I will post about that!
