Busy Busy Weekend

Hello Readers!!!

I am only about 3 days behind in posting my recap of my weekend, but I told you I would be back and so here I am!!!! Saying it was a busy one is slightly an understatement. Most of the time we don't have very big plans, but this past weekend, we had 3 events to attend and 2 of them required a 60 minute drive on Friday night and Saturday!

First we attended a Minor League Baseball game!  The kids had such a great time. Chris's work rented 2 suites, so we had good food and a great view of the park.
Carter and Maddie with the Team Mascot, Roscoe!!!
Maddie and I at the game!
Saturday was Chris's company picnic at an amusement park!  Once again the kids a wonderful time riding the rides over and over!  We had to pull them out of the park, they did not want to leave!
Maddie and friend, Alissa riding the elephants!
The kids on the Log Ride, I love Maddie's face!!!

Maddie, Brilee, Carter, & Alissa riding the Dizzy Dragons!

On Saturday night my Dad had his annual Fish Fry! He fishes all spring and summer for this annual event. This year was his biggest attendance at 93!!! Everyone talks about his good fish, hushpuppies and all the trimmings!!!! And not to mention all the desserts that the guest bring!!!

My parents rented a jumpy house for the fish fry this year, this is me and the kids jumping in it the next day! Middle picture: me, Jessica and Connie feeding our faces and trying to decide which yummy dessert we were going to get. We all said we would sample a little of all and just go run the next day, it will be okay!!! ;)  Even though the kids had a jumpy house, bicycles, playhouse to play in, what is better than a dirt box!!!! The kids loved it!!!  My daddy built it for Carter, because he kept on digging in my mom's flower beds. Needless to say he loves it!!!!

Have a good rest of the week!!!

What's for Supper!!!!

I hate to cook, there I said it, it is all out in the open for all to know!!!! I guess I need to clarify, I like to bake some fun stuff like cakes, cupcakes, fudge and fix fun stuff to eat, like cheese fries, potato skins, dips that kind of stuff.  I guess really what I don't like is trying to figure out a menu, then get ready to cook and only have a few of the ingredients.  Or fixing something that your family does not like or will snarl their noses at or asking what everyone wants to eat and they all say "it doesn't matter." Then when you fix something they are all like this is nasty!!!!

I was at a friend's house a couple of weeks ago and saw the answer to all my problems, well not all because I don't have a (Ms. Jones) live in cook!! (For all my 50 shaders)!! She had a menu board. It was the neatest thing ever! She said it was pinterest project. She told me how she made it and I took careful mental notes, came home and searched pinterest for it and found it. Here is the link for it to pinterest, but I can tell you step by step, very little money invested!!!

The part that is the most time consuming is fixing your cards.
on one side is the name of the dish you are prepaing

Then on the other side is your ingredients
IE: Potatoes, olive oil, ranch dressing mix, etc
How I fixed mine: I typed the name of the dish on an address label, and then the ingredients on another label, then stuck them to a piece of card stock for the stiffness and then cut out the card stock. So the card is stiff then. If you have access to a laminating machine that would be great as well.

The other items needed is a picture frame either an 11x14 or you can use a long frame that holds 3 4x6's, which is what I used. I purchased mine at the Dollar General for $5!!

2 pieces Scrapbook paper $2.00
Hot Glue Gun
Clothes pins $1.00 for a pack of 20
Either a 16 count crayon box or some cardboard to make one the same size
Letters, or if you can write fancy/pretty, you will not need these $1.00 for a pack of 50

I taped the paper to the backing of the frame, the paper isn't long enough
so where the border is that is where it meets that is where the border is. I used the foam
sticker letters on the border.

The finished product.

I added an extra clothes pin of tastey treats. Here one might
add a cake, desert or just something tastey they
want to cook and too make sure they have
all the ingredients for.

A close up of the clothes pins and the cards, and  you can also
see the box that holds all the cards, so they don't get lost  or
shoved into a drawer. I made mine out of a box that manilla
folders came in and then wrapped it in the scrapbook paper and
taped it onto the frame backing.

I am sure this will not cure your supper fixing blues, but maybe it will help!!!!

What a FUN Weekend!!!

This weekend, was one of the best I have had in a long time!!!!! It involved everything that I love dearly, people and activities!!!!!!!  On Saturday morning, my running peeps and I got up extra early (5:30) to get ready to travel to our first 4 mile race!!!! It was for a wonderful cause. http://3wayracing.com/images/stories/races/RunWithAllYourHart/2012/hartHome.htm. The race was called Run With All Your Hart, in memory of a beautiful girl Sarah Hart. Click on the link to read her story and the outpouring love that the community, State of KY, and the USA has poured out to her!!!!!! All 50 states was represented as registrants and 6 countries!!!!! AMAZING!!! She had 3 beautiful children and was pregnant when she was killed, hence the 4 mile race for all 4 of her children.

Running Peeps...Rebecca, me, Jessica and Kandis all before the race
This race has received a lot of media attention and the 2 largest universities in the state mascots were there to be a part of this wonderful cause. The University of Louisville Cardinal and the University of Kentucky Wildcat!!!!
Rebecaa, THE WILDCAT, Jessica and Kandis
The Cardinal and myself!!

I was so excited, I PR'ed...my time was 33:54, 8:28 pace, I was 211th out of 1228 runners. There was a total of 2900+ who particpated, runners and walkers.
THis is a link of my finishline photo!!!!! I was praising the Good Lord!!!!!! ha

After the race, Chris, the kids and I headed out to the lake, sorry no pics!!!! :( It was a great day to sit on the boat and get my tan on and watch the kids splash in the water!!!

On Sunday after church, Chris, Carter and I went Ranger riding!!!! I love riding through the woods, creeks and fields of our pretty county!!!!! Here is a picture of my good friend Teresa and I.  I am so super proud of her, she made it through the ride, without needing to beat Eddie, her hubby!!! haha!!! She had a little stage fright of the Ranger!!!
Me and Teresa
Now I am ready to get this week over with and do it all over again!!!! :)
